M62 - Your Local History
A lot of finds were uncovered during the archaeological evaluation carried out for the M62 Junction 6 Improvement scheme so we thought it would be nice to provide an interactive website so you can see what we found.

The Highways Agency aims to make more people aware of the dangers of walking or crossing our motorway. We have launched a poster and radio campaign aimed at 16-25yr olds. Hopefully with our hard hitting posters, our message will come across.

Research Compendium
Welcome
As an Executive Agency of the Department for Transport (DfT), the Highways Agency carries out operationally focused research to complement DfT's policy programmes. The management and delivery of the programme will focus on four main themes (.doc, 77Kb):
- SSN - Safe and Serviceable Network
- MT - Managing Traffic
- IT - Influencing Travel
- BRO - Being a responsible owner
Research continues to play an important role in supporting the Highways Agency's operational objectives and further development of its role as a traffic operator. Click to view the Highways Agency Evidence and Research Strategy documents.
Background
The Highways Agency's key aims, in the face of continuing increases in demand for journeys, are to tackle unreliability, improve safety and provide better information to help road users make better decisions as they plan their journeys and travel. We will continue in our efforts to mitigate the environmental impact of using, maintaining and improving our network, working with our business partners to tackle the adverse impacts of transport on climate, health and quality of life. We also want to work with road users to help them reduce their environmental impacts.
We hope that you find the Compendium an interesting and useful source of information. We welcome all queries, feedback, suggestions for new areas of research and comments on the website itself by filling in the feedback form.
